CPLI Positions for Growth in 2025 and Beyond
CPLI, the organization formally known as Conservative Policy Leadership Institute, is making some big changes in 2025. First and foremost, the name is changing to Capitol Policy Leadership Institute. This change better reflects the organization’s focus on public policy at the state level and, ideally, will assist in fundraising from companies and corporations.
Secondly, CPLI is changing the timing of its program. The public-policy focused training group is switching to the traditional “school-year” timeframe with the next class launching in August 2025 and graduating in April 2026. Specific program dates will be announced soon. Nominations for the next class are being accepted currently. The program application will be released in February, with applications due in May. CPLI will announce the class in mid-Summer and launch with a retreat in the Fall.
The ideal CPLI candidate will have 5-8 years professional experience or exhibit a high level of professionalism, if younger. They will be interested in public policy, able to attend all sessions and committed to serving the organization the following year. The organization is aiming for a class size of 18 - 22 people and at least one legislator each year.
Behind the scenes, CPLI is changing its governance structure. Beginning 2025, the officers of the organization will become the Board of Trustees of CPLI for all official matters - tax filings, Charitable registration, fiscal oversight, etc. This group will be known as the Executive Committee and will continue to meet monthly. The previous Board of Directors, who are not officers or on the executive committee, will merge with the Advisory Board into one Board of Directors that will function de facto as an Advisory Board. The Advisory Board will be tasked with approving the budget and selects class members, in addition to other programming matters.
We are excited about these changes and looking forward to many more years of training Georgia’s conservative public policy leaders.
